Stephen C. Fiebiger has over 40 years of experience as a Minnesota civil litigation attorney in the areas of employment law, personal injury, defamation, probate, trusts, guardianships and conservatorships, and civil appeals. He practices in state and federal courts across the state handling court and jury trials. 

He has successfully argued civil appeals before the Minnesota Supreme Court, Minnesota Court of Appeals, and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and negotiated scores of settlements.  He has authored amicus curiae briefs on important employment law issues at the state Supreme Court.  

He was recently re-appointed by Governor Tim Walz to the state's Merit System Council for a three-year term ending on January 6, 2025.  He is a member of the Burnsville Breakfast Rotary and a Paul Harris Fellow.  

In 2018, he received the Burnsville-Eagan-Savage school district John Coskran Volunteer Award and was recognized for his experience with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award (Who's Who).

Mr. Fiebiger has been licensed to practice before all courts in Minnesota since 1983. He is admitted to practice in federal court before the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Education

Mr. Fiebiger graduated from St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN with a B.A. degree in History and English in 1980. Mr. Fiebiger served as a Congressional Intern in Washington, D.C., at the U.S. House of Representatives.  

He received his Juris Doctorate from Washburn University School of Law in Topeka, KS in 1983. In law school, he was a member of the Phi Delta Phi honor fraternity and editor-in-chief of Case-N-Cane.

  • In April 2017, Mr. Fiebiger moderated a panel of trial lawyers on 'Tips and Tactics for Trial' for the Minnesota chapter of the National Employers Association in Minneapolis. 
  • He co-presented an update on U.S. Supreme Court and Eighth Circuit cases to the Eighth Circuit National Employment Lawyers Association conference in Kansas City, Mo, in 2016. In November, he was the speaker at the Metro Guardian & Conservator program on practical tips for guardians.
  • Authored amicus curiae "friend of the court" brief for MN-NELA to Minnesota supreme court on interpreting a statute tolling the statute of limitations during voluntary dispute resolution under the Minnesota Human Rights Act in Peterson v. City of Minneapolis, 892 N.W. 2d 824 (Minn. 2017), and another in 2018 in McBee v. Team Industries, Inc., 925 N.W. 2d 222 (Minn. 2019), a disability discrimination case under the Minnesota Human Rights Act. 
  • Mr. Fiebiger served as a mock trial Judge for the William McGee National Civil Rights Moot Court Competition.
